Nice pictures, Oldstock!
But why lah, of all the pictures, that belimbing buluh caught my attention the most.. Hehe!

Looks like my lunch today solved: Masak lemak (anything) with belimbing buluh! Anyone?

Oldstock, my choice would be your grandniece photo. Man, she’s so gorgeous, those double eye lids dreamy eyes, rosy cheeks, pointed nose, lovely red lips. And I just love the natural baby smell.

Wow she’s from Kota Tinggi too, gee I love that picturesque waterfall there too, had some great memories in KT too.

Cheers,

Tommy

Pertama kali nampak rupa bunga kesidang. Itu rupanya, pernah dengar tapi tak pernah tengok.
Belimbing buluh masak lemak, sedap...

nice collection of photos from the yesteryear. Your Ganu visit reminded me to pack and beat the road back to Kampung.

Salam Oldstock,

Seems like all cancerians I know are undergoing some kind of writer's block or another!

I have belimbing buluh and kesidang too (kat Kedah di gelar bunga kerak nasi!) Belimbing buluh banyak khasiat dari darah tinggi ke ubat batuk...have you ever tried kerabu buah belimbing buluh? Must be the tastiest of all kerabu! (Kerabu northern style)

Lovely pix, Oldstock!

Question: that Kesidang flower pictured: Do its blooms smell like pandan? Lovely bunches of beautiful white flowers with a strong pandan-y smell? I think I have the same plant/creeper in my garden, and I've been searching for its name!

Lili,

Masak lemak belimbing buluh memang sedap!

For more pics of the belimbing buluh plus a recipe of sambal hitam, check my old post -> Belimbing buluh

mamasita pun peminat gambar belimbing buluh ye...

Gambo Angah dgn lembu korban tu special sikit. Dia cuba bagi kata-kata semangat kat lembu supaya tenang... kau jadi korban tapi kau masuk syurga, katanya :-)

Kak Kama,

Writer's block pun ye, sibuk dgn tugas pun ye... nanti la I ceritakan, tunggu ada masa free sikit. Mungkin lepas CNY kot, hehehe..

Tommy,

Pic of grandniece taken when she was 16-days old. She is one-year old yesterday. I've got a few more cute pics of the young lady taken in November during Hari Raya Haji, but cannot post here sebab takut mak dia jeles :-)

The third vote of the belimbing buluh pic comes from Zafi in the UK. Seems like this pic beats the rest.

Snake,

Ini posting untuk orang yang malas nak baca cerita sebab penulis blog tak sempat nak tulis cerita panjang...

As,

Bunga kesidang ni sangat harum baunya. Posting asal saya pasal bunga ini di sini -> Fragrant bloom

Dr Sam,

No matter how long he has stay in the city, you can't take the kampung out of the boy, right?

Salam Kak Zen,

Aqilah is one-year old now. Birthday dia semalam, 5th Feb. I heard she's just learning to walk, masih jatuh bangun lagi. Last met hear masa raya haji dulu. She's now my favourite photography subject.

Salam anne,

Tak pernah try kerabu belimbing buluh... takut rasa masam sangat, heheheh.

Bunga kesidang tu banyak nama... tetapi kenapa agaknya orang Kedah panggil bunga kerak nasi? Heran jugak I, kat mana kaitannya. Dari segi rupa, tak macam kerak nasi pun. Dari segi bau, kerak nasi kan bau hangit, sedangkan bunga ni harum sangat.

Fadhil said...

Pat,

Yes, that kesidang flower not only smells like pandan but is more pungent. I think that's the plant you have in your garden. Incidentally, blogger Andrea Whatever has the same plant too.

You can check the original story in the link I gave in reply to 3yrshousewife comment above. In there, you'll find the English and the scientific name of the plant.

Eh, ada belimbing buluh? Mama selalu guna belimbing buluh masak lemak daging atau sambal ikan terubok untuk nasi lemak. Seronoknya rumah ada tanah untuk cucuk tanam. Rumah Rina ada tanam pokok cherry & daun pandan ..pun dah makan ruang tanah yang seconet depan rumah :)

Btw, Good job Mr Oldstock!

Rina,

Rumah kami rumah kampung yg kami beli 2nd hand... ada la sikit ruang keliling rumah nak bercucuk tanam. Ada pokok pisang, turi, serai, limau purut, limau nipis, rambutan, jambu air... But mostly planted by my mom la :-)
