Then and now...

It has been quite a hectic week of Aidilfitri celebrations for us this year. The past seven days were filled with near non-stop traveling... and also eating. The cycle of movement can be summarised in a single line as follows : JB -> Singapore -> JB -> Mersing -> Kota Tinggi -> JB -> Tangkak -> Semenyih -> KL -> KLIA -> Shah Alam -> Tanjung Malim -> KL -> JB.

We just returned home late last night, so today shall be strictly spent for rest and recuperation. I'll post the story and photos of our Hari Raya a bit later (if it is not too stale by then). Today's entry is just a brief look at how my three aces have grown. The two pics shown below are of my three sons taken at Aidilfitri at the same location (in front of my parents' home) but after a span of 12 years.

Photo 1 : Three Aces, Aidilfitri 1997

The first pic is a blurry scan of a photograph taken in 1997. Along (left) was 8 years-old, Angah (right) was 6, and Adik (middle) was 2.

Photo 2 : Three Aces, Aidilfitri 2009

The second pic was taken last week. The boys are standing in the same order as they did before. Angah is now taller than his elder brother.

Along has flown back to Jordan on Friday and we sent Angah back to his UiTM hostel the same afternoon. How time flies...

Oldsstock, selamat hari raya. Just by looking at your riraya itineraries enough to make me mencungap2. Ah yes, I think the middle in the pic looks exactly like you. Ada chance kita berbesan tak? heheh..

Kak Teh,

This aidilfitri is perhaps the most hectic one I've had in years. I met all the 12 other siblings on my wife's side within that week. Tiring no doubt, but fulfilling too.

Hliza,

Gambar mama dan abah diaorang banyak beza dulu dan sekarang. Lebih tua dan lebih gempal... heheheh.

Kak Kama,

The extensive traveling was secara kebetulan sebab the eldest had to fly back and the second boy wanted to return early to his hostel (to study for some tests this week). Just so happened that another brother-in-law buat open house at Tg Malim that same weekend, so we made the additional drive northwards.

Memang letih sungguh. Sampai hari ni masih rasa penat lagi.

mamasita,

Yes, Along is the most reserved of the three, sejak dari kecik lagi. The other two are the mischevious ones :-)

Tok, if my boys remain true to their selves, then I'm happy.

somuffins,

I doubt I can travel that extensively in future. My wife spent the whole of yesterday attending to a mountain of laundry.

So you reckon the youngest one looks like me huh? Nak berbesan tu boleh... tapi keputusan di tangan tuan punya badan tau :-)

Oldstock,
Those travel must be tiring but at least your family have seen half of the peninsula.
Just like me, your children will leave the roost and there will be just the two of you left at home. Just enjoy the company of whoever is still at home.

Impressive travelling there, that's what my mother used to call 'ukur jalan'. Yes, please do post the pictures of before and after Mr & Mrs. Oldstock. Must be very interesting too.

Glad you had a good raya with the family, Oldstock. Penat berbaloi!

Pak Zawi,

The youngest son in now in Form 2. So I guess we have another 3 years or so before he leaves us for further study. Lepas tu tinggal lah kami berdua suami isteri. That's the cycle of life.

3yrshwife,

Aduh... letih la mengukur jalan ni. Nak tengok gambar lama kami kena tunggu, sebab belum scan lagi.

Ladymarko,

Yes, the boys have been in their best behaviour at most times. I am proud of them.

Salam aidifitri Justiffa,

Welcome to this blog. You have 3 offsprings too, huh? All grown up with minds of their own, I'm sure.

For guys like us yang tak ramai anak, we just console ourselves that it is the quality and not the quantity, that counts.

Will drop by to your place soon :-)
