A change would do you good

In the past month or so, my blogging activity has been somewhat reduced compared to previous months. The amount of time I spend online nowadays is more to check/answer emails relating to stuff about work. Both blog-posting and blog-hopping are temporarily taking a back seat.

There is a particular reason for this.

Since the beginning of February, I have transferred to work at our head office in Kuala Lumpur. I am no longer based in Johor Bahru. With the said transfer comes added responsibilities and workload. While I previously oversee things at a regional level (Johor), I now have to handle projects at other locations in the country. That is why you see me sneaking in posts about Penang and Perak.

My preferred time to log on to blogger.com is usually late evenings. I like to read the stories posted by other blogger-friends and then dropping a comment or two. It is a nice way to relax the mind after a hard day's work and before turning in to bed. However, the place that I'm now renting in KL does not have Streamyx broadband and so I am deprived of my nightly dose of online reading and writing. I am thinking of getting one of those wireless broadband service from the mobile telcos but feedback from friends who have subscribed to the various packages are somewhat mixed.

Until then, please excuse my sporadic posts and visits. It was actually quite tough for me to decide on the move... but a voice within me said that the change would do me good. More about it, soon...

Hi Oldstock, congrats on your move to HQ & up the corporate ladder.

Women, they can’t help themselves ya…hehehe, see the comment from matahari, I think it’s quite representative of all your female followers; slowly suck u up, start singing your praises, niceties and then and then again must slip in that ‘loaded’ topic…’jangan dapat makwe baru’ and that hihihi….comes with that ‘hey this IS NOT a JOKE look!!! :))

Anyway all the very best to you.

Cheers,
Tommy

P/S – Careful not to step on any elephants’ toes….kakaka. Unless u r the elephant now lah.

Welcome to Kayel! To the traffic jams and the flash floods, and the only life I've known for a long while!

I hope your internet woes are solved soon. I've used Celcom's Broadband, and it's far from what they advertise. But like someone says, better a bit of something than nothing at all. But I don't like having choices like that! :(

Hope you enjoy the 'new' job, and being in KL. And hope you're back to 'normal' soon.

Ooooh udah jd org kl ek.. dont let the jams get to u n u'll be orait lol. and congrats for climbing up another rung, hope the view is better up there :D

Salam and welcome to Kay El and congratulation for a good shift in your career. On the internet thing...K.L shouldn't be much a problem. Just take a break in between your busy schedule or lepak-lepak for a teh tarik session in one of the many hotspots, your are online for free.

Dear Oldstock,

You like to see quaint old buildings?

Try the small cowboy town of Tronoh. Who would believe that there is a varsity - so sophisticated and all nearby?

Our campus used to be there..once...more than 20 years ago..

oldstock dah balik kl? yea, boleh belanja i mkn bos!

matahari,

Makwe baru rasanya dah tak cari la... cuma mungkin nak cari makwe lama, boleh gitu?

Fadhil said...

mamasita,

Nak meet up, boleh je... as long as it is not weekends.

Kita tunggu masa sesuai bila you dah tak sibuk with the wedding of your son.

Fadhil said...

D,

Indeed, with difficulty comes ease. At the moment, it is just me who has moved to KL. The family is still in JB.

I have been in this situation many times (comes with the job, as they say)... I may be used to it, but I've never liked it. But Allah swt yang menentukan, ye tak?

Fadhil said...

Pakmat,

Perhaps I should clarify... I'm in KL as a part-time bachelor (the ladies will flame me for using this term!). The family remain in JB, sebab tu tak amik streamyx broadband at my KL rented place. I am trying out maxis broadband now. The speed is not consistent, tapi bak kata mamasita, better than takde langsung.

Hi Tommy,

The move maybe upwards but it was not what I was aiming for. In fact, I wasn't aiming for anything, just happy doing bits and pieces far away from the head office. But I guess it is sometimes necessary to sacrifice personal convenience for the overall good of the company.

I like your take on the `loaded' topic... can't help maa, ladies always suspicious of matured men out in the city all on their own, heheheh...

Fadhil said...

NanaDJ,

Thanks for the offer. Would love to take it up one day.

Fadhil said...

Zara,

Thanks for the wishes. I hope to make things better, otherwise there would be no point in moving. Sebenarnya dah malas nak move around nih, tapi mungkin there is still something that I'm meant to do.

Fadhil said...

Pat,

There is no way to avoid the KL jams, so I guess all of us have to live with it.

I am just about settled down now. Maxis broadband is helping me keep occupied in the evenings.

Fadhil said...

Justiffa,

The view from the top downwards is okay I guess. It's the view around the same level that needs adjusting to... if you know what I mean.

Fadhil said...

Zen,

I will try to use my car as little as possible so as not to add to the jam, heheheh...

Yes, still building bridges... and office buildings and schools.

Fadhil said...

Noor,

Rasanya tak banyak nak tulis pasal KL kot... many other bloggers are doing this. But you never know..

Hmmm.... what was that about procrastination? Don't do things today if you have actually planned to do it tomorrow... or something like that lah :-)

Fadhil said...

Dr Sam,

Dulu I used to hang out at the mamak places where there's free wi-fi... but after a while, I don't feel too good about it. I just didn't like the atmosphere.

A guy staring at a laptop at a mamak's place with two or three empty glasses of teh tarik for hours on end... a sure sign of a lonely life.

But if I can have teh tarik sessions with friends, I'd love it. We should do one soon, boleh Doc?

Fadhil said...

Ladymarko, not actually moving up the ladder but thanks.

Fadhil said...

Moira,

Call me and we can go for a dinner date :-)

Fadhil said...

Dear Umi,

A bit surprised seeing you over here. It has been quite a while since I dropped by your place.

Yes, I've been to Tronoh before, to the UTP campus. Like you said, quite out of the way.

HLiza said...

Ooooo..baru faham. Me too is living a hectic life nowadays so I hardly catch up with my blogger friends including you. Good luck with the new responsibilities..cian cik adik tinggal sorang kat umah ye..

Fadhil said...

Hliza,

Yang tinggal kat rumah tu memang kesian... tapi apa kan daya, tujuan mengembara mencari rezeki.

Of course la, dia sentiasa dok risau kita cari yg lain..
