We are in my wife's hometown Mersing since yesterday. Today, my wife and her siblings are at the District Land Office to settle some issues relating to the inheritance of property belonging to my late father-in-law.
Being back in Mersing means the opportunity to enjoy the local delicacies that the town is famous for. Namely nasi dagang, keropok lekor and satar. It's cool and cloudy this morning.

Fadhil Isma, didn't know that you can get Satar and Kerepot Lekor in Mersing. Loved it. We get it in Kemaman wherever we go back to Kuantan, my hometown.
As to the subject of inheritance it is best to give it when one is still around. Once it became inheritance it not that easy to get it done according to Syriah.

I love satar. Tried it once in Kuantan. Didn't know that it is a delicacy in Mersing. Thanks for the info, and will try to check it out next time.

Keropok lekor and nasi dagang is quite easily obtainable in Mersing. Good-tasting satar is slightly more difficult to find. Only 2 places are worth buying from.
Mersing has a small section of citizens whose ancestors were originally from Terengganu. That's why you can find such delicacies.

My first taste of satar was when I worked at a construction project in Dungun, Terengganu in year 2000. I loved it. It was also where I found out about ikan celup tepung and sotong celup tepung. Later, when the new bridge across Sg Kuantan was ready, Tanjung Lumpur became accessible and Warung Moksu became a compulsory stop whenever I visit Kuantan.
If you happen to be in Mersing, go to the area called Mersing Kanan (Jalan Makam) to look for keropok lekor and satar. There are a number of stalls, all equally popular on weekends. My personal recommendation for keropok lekor is Hj Ramli. For tasty satar, there is this unnamed stall along the same road which I've added to Google Maps as Gerai Satar Terbaik Mersing. However, my suggestion has yet to be published by Google.
