Badique in memory...

On this date last year, I posted a story about 2 birthdays... the second of which was the birthday of my friend, Bahruzzaman Abdul Kadir, or better known to us as Badique.

Badique and I studied together for our A-levels at the UK, first at Centre for Business Studies in London and later at Aston College in Wrexham, North Wales. He later continued to do his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham while I went to Sheffield. I met him once in the early years of our working career back in Malaysia after which we lost touch for a long time, only to be re-connected in December of 2009 by way of Facebook. I visited my friend at his house in Shah Alam on 19.01.10, the eve of his 48th birthday.

If Badique were alive today, he would be 49-years-old. Alas, he died of cancer in April last year. I can't help but shed a tear as I type this...

Rest patiently my brother... we will be there to join you soon. May Allah swt place you among the soliheen..

Badique is third from the left with yours truly on the far right, Wrexham 1980

Al-Fatihah for arwah Badique..may his soul be amongst the solihin.
Yes, I still feel tearful inside about the posting you did for him last year.
His passing away makes me feel remorseful too even though I didn't know him..but through your eyes,I feel his loss too.
We thank God for allowing us to still be around our loving family.
Yet we know God has his reasons
for calling Badique home.

You're such a wonderful friend of arwah Badique. The memory of your friendship with him is well cherished by you. And thanks for sharing it with us here.

Sedekahkah pahala bacaan Al Fatihah (dan 113 surah2 Al Qur'an yg lain) for arwah.

Death is the end point for current life but the beginning of a new life. Everyday is getting us closer to death. So get ready by start small but think big.

1. Doa anak yang soleh
2. Ilmu bermanafaat
3. Sedekah jariah

Jadikan harta dunia sebagai jariah akhirat.

mamasita,

When I looked back at the circumstances how we re-connected after so many years, I realised that God gave me that chance to meet my friend, just before he is taken away. The message that I take from this is that I should make the effort to visit all my friends should I ever hear them in not a healthy state.

Lili, thank you for the kind words and wishes.

Puan Hazel,

Yes, I believe allahyarham is your junior at Seremban. We were the MCE 1979 batch.

Salam Sdra School of Tots,

Terima kasih atas peringatan yg sangat berguna itu. Mudah-mudahan kita semua tidak melepaskan peluang yg masih ada pada kita.

As, I wrote about my friend because my memories of him are still fresh. Tak tahu lah.. esok lusa mungkin dah lupa agaknya.

Anyway, we lose friends along the way... but it should not stop us from making new friends and help spread and share happiness.

I hope you are recovering well...

Paula, I try to be as sincere a friend as I can be. If I am not, then do let me know...

To borrow the title of your latest post, things happen for a reason. I guess the reason for me being able to meet my friend before he died, is perhaps to value friendships while I can.

But then again, sometimes the reasons do not seem obvious until time has passed...
