Ramai Lari

The following pic was taken at the pump of a Petronas petrol station on Pasir Gudang Highway. Times must be so tough that people are willing to cheat even when filling up petrol.

hahaha! How do they do this? I thought that the pump is only operational when the person inside releases the petrol?

Ya lah. How could this be possible. Pump & run? ;-)

Pat and Ja,

I found out from the station attendant that previously, some motorists requested for the pump to be turned on first, on the pretext that the want to fill up their tanks (the excuse being that they are not able to judge how much to fill).

Once they've filled up, they replace the nozzle and simply drive off!

The "ramai lari" is hilarious!

Michelle,

The thing that puzzles me here is the word `Ramai'. It seems like they were cheated many times before they learnt their lesson!

Sadly, this is very common in some places. I know that there are some petrol stations that have the same policy in the UK. It's rare, but it does happen, especially at night. Having to pay before you pump is more common in the USA.

It's a bit annoying if you want to fill up, as you don't know how much it's going to cost until you've done it.

As Oldstock says, it's very simple how the bad guys do it - they just fill up and drive off. Petrol stations usually have cameras, but if it's a stolen car, that doesn't help much, especially if people hide their faces.
